St Peter’s Swim School utilises the Smart Moves Curriculum. Smart Moves follows the philosophy that a child is pre-programmed to move whether it be in the water or on land and that a moving child is a learning child.
We believe that early and frequent experiences in the water are essential to a child’s health and well-rounded development.
The advantages of learning to swim, beyond the obvious safety considerations, include improved motor coordination, socialisation skills and fitness.
Parent involvement and participation is essential in helping create a special bond between parent and child.
Children are grouped by age and ability. Small jumps are used to define the class levels and progress should be quick depending on the coordination of the child and the enthusiasm of the parent.
Children at all levels learn at their own pace so it is not wise to compare development, socialisation skills and fitness.
